Stagecoach Supertram Industrial Action – Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July 2018

As you may be aware a further 72 hour strike has been called by Unite members, affecting all tram services, on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July 2018.

As the strike will cause significant disruption to tram services, we are encouraging our customers and colleagues, to plan their journeys in advance.

Why is this happening?

Stagecoach Supertram drivers and conductors in Unite are striking over pay. As Supertram will not have enough drivers to offer a reliable service they have chosen to withdraw the majority of services on strike days.

Impact on tram services

The strike will have a major impact on tram services.  Service provision will be as follows:

Friday 20 July – 7am to 7pm

  • Yellow route: a replacement bus service will operate every 10 minutes between Meadowhall Interchange and Middlewood.
  • Blue route: a replacement bus service will operate every 10 minutes between Halfway and Sheffield Centre.
  • Purple Route: a revised tram service will operate a 30 minute, between Malin Bridge and Herdings Park

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July – 7am to 7pm

  • Yellow route: a replacement bus service will operate every 10 minutes between Meadowhall Interchange and Middlewood.
  • Blue route: a replacement bus service will operate every 10 minutes between Halfway and Sheffield Centre. A reduced tram service will also operate a 30 minute, revised route between Malin Bridge and Sheffield Station
  • Purple route: no service.

The above services will only operate from 7am to 7pm on each day. Please be aware that from start of service to 7am and from 7pm to end of service on the three strike days no tram services or replacement bus services will run.

Please note that services SL1 and SL1a will still operate as normal.

Supertram has a list of timetables and frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) regarding tram and bus replacement services, which can be found at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/news/yorkshire/2018/july/st-strike-action

Anyone with a Park & Ride season ticket is asked to contact Traveline to arrange a refund. Season ticket holders will not have to purchase a separate ticket to travel on the replacement bus.

It will be free to park at all Tram Park & Ride sites, although passengers will still need to purchase a ticket to travel on the replacement bus.

How is this being communicated to customers?
