Make 2018 the year that you make your mark,

and make a difference, through volunteering

On Thursday 1st March, the Town Hall is the place to be for potential volunteers in Sheffield. The iconic building will host our Volunteering Fair where there will be over 50 charities, looking for volunteers to support them in the invaluable work they do.  The Lord Mayor of Sheffield – Councillor Anne Murphy – was also in attendance, and will be at this Fair to show her support for volunteers and charities in the city.

Our Volunteering Fair is a great day for people to find out more about volunteering, which roles might be right for them and to meet like-minded people interested in giving back. As well as being a great way to make a worthwhile difference within the community, volunteering can be a way for people to share their skills or learn new skills, gain relevant experience for work or study, or pursue hobbies and interests.

Charities at the Fair will include organisations working; with animals, in arts and heritage, environment, health and social care, recovery, housing, community development, victim support, sport and wellbeing and those working with refugees and asylum seekers. There will be many opportunities, in different areas and activities, which the charities will be able to talk directly with visitors about.

A list of charities attending the Fair is on the following page, and will also be available through:

The Volunteering Fair falls on University Mental Health Day, and is an event being jointly held with Sheffield Hallam University’s Students’ Union, but there are many ways volunteering can help contribute to good mental health and wellbeing no matter which stage people are at in life. This could be through reducing isolation and stress, providing a sense of achievement and pride, increasing mental and physical activity, or just being a way to meet people and have fun.

As this is Sheffield Volunteer Centre and Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union’s joint Volunteering Fair, Volunteer Centre Advisors will be on-hand to talk to visitors about volunteering. There will also be information about student-led projects for Hallam University students to get involved in.

The Volunteering Fair is open to everyone, and volunteering is for everyone too.
